A Report on
BRF-ML Annual Memorial Lecture/Seminar Series

___________________________________

The Annual Memorial Lecture/Seminar Series initiated by BRF-ML is an attempt to learn from the lives and works of eminent visionaries from Kerala who were exemplary leaders and achievers. The Memorial Lecture Series has initiated a revisit of Kerala's spiritual and cultural legacy leading to the build up of a commonly shared, integrated and growth-oriented value system in educational, economic, social and political life.

The three memorial lectures are devoted to the memory of: Sri Narayana Guru, K. C. Mamman Mappilai and V. K. Krishna Menon. The themes of these lectures are respectively "Spirituality, Culture and Living Values for a Growing Society,
"Economics, Leadership and Values For A Competitive Economy, and, "Science, Technology, Environment and Social Change". The memorial lecture series, inaugurated in 2003, will be an annual public event.

The inaugural series of lectures generated wide interest and participation. The first (February 8, 2003) and the second (January 24, 2004) VK Krishna Menon Memorial Lectures were given by the distinguished scientists of India - Prof MGK Menon and Dr Raja Ramanna. The first (18 January, 2003) and the second (January 17, 2004) Sri Narayana Guru Memorial Lectures were delivered by the veteran literary figure of Kerala, Prof Vishnu Narayanan Namputiri, and the wellknown Vedanta teacher and spiritual Acharya of Sambodh organisations, HH Swami Bodhananda. The first (February 1, 2003) and the second (February 7, 2004) KC Mammen Mappilai Memorial lectures were given by the former Judge of the Supreme Court of India Justice S Mohan, and the CEO of Bharatiya Yuva Sakti Trust, Smt Lakshmi V Venkatesan. There were also eminent panelists at all the lecture seminars presenting their views. The lecture seminars ended with engaging discussion and interaction between the speakers and the audience. The Memorial Lecture Seminar Series was funded by different agencies and supported by a distinguished advisory and organising committee.

The full proceedings of the Memorial Lecture Series of 2003 was published and is now available for a nominal fee. This volume is considered to be an important document consisting of the views and visions of the eminent leaders of this country.
